Pump wear detection device for protecting hydraulic system

The device is connected to a pump (12) that has a housing with an outlet connected to the pump housing. A flow sensor (26) connected to the outlet produces signals which indicate the flow through the outlet, and involves a venturi and a pair of venturi pressure sensors or a differential pressure sensor, generating less than 5 psi reverse pressure. A processor (28) determines from this whether the pump wear has exceeded a predefined level, and if so an indicator light (ANZEIGER-LICHT) is triggered. The pump forms part of a hydraulic system (10) with hydraulic fluid tanks (16) and main hydraulic pressure (18) transmitted by valve (20).
