Reciprocating oblong cross section sliver cans for filling sliver

Sliver cans (8) of oblong cross-section are filled from a drawing frame (1) through a rotating head coiler (7). The can (8) reciprocates (A, B) in a longitudinal direction driven by displacement means (9, 10). The drive means is a speed controlled electric motor (9) with microcomputer control means linked to a can displacement sensor. The motor is controlled to give a smooth acceleration/deceleration at the ends of the can displacement path.
