Laser welding of thermoplastic housing parts

The workpiece for a housing (6) for an electrical switch is pref. of two thermoplastic components (7,8) which have differing transmission and absorption coeffts., at least in part-zones, for the spectrum of the laser beam (11) used to weld them together. The first section (8) gives a transmission of the laser beam (11) from the first junction point (12) to the joint (10) zone at least partially, so that part of the laser beam (11) penetrates to a second joint (13) zone at the second component part (7). The material of the second part (7) at least partially absorbs the laser beam (11) to the joint (10) zone at the second junction point (13).
