RECORDING SIGNAL DISCRIMINATION AND REPRODUCING CIRCUIT OF VIDEO TAPE

The circuit for judging and reproducing record signal of a video tape comprises a record signal detecting unit for detecting if the reproducing image signal is an S-VHS signal or a VHS signal by using the voltage difference of an envelope signal detected from the image signal read out from each video tape and generating a judging control signal corresponding to the result; an envelope signal amplifying and leaking frequency band point control circuit for controlling the peaking point of the envelope signal frequency detected from the reproduced image signal based on the judging control signal; an image processing unit for performing a reproduction processing of the peaking point controlled reproducing image signal or the reproduced image signal to display the reproduced image signal and supplying it to a display unit; and an image amplification control circuit for controlling a brightness signal level separated from the peaking point controlled reproducing image signal into the brightness signal level within the VHS signal based on the judging control signal and supplying it to the image processing unit.
