Method of forming sandwich structure of two stamped foils

The method is such that the first, metal, foil (1) is fed to a scanner (9,10) where the stamped pattern in the metal foil is compared with a corresponding stamped pattern in a plastics foil (2) fed to the scanner and aligned over the metal foil. The plastics foil is fed through a stamping station (11) positioned a set number of patterns away from the scanner. The fit of the stamped patterns is measured and misalignments corrected by a control loop to the stamping station. The alignment of the stamping station is in two dimensions and is linked to the scanner. The stamping station has a facility for manual adjustment. The two foils are bonded together with adhesive spots.
