A flue gas filter with a housing contg. active coal, hearth furnace coke or the like as filter medium and with a device for dosed water addn., comprises a housing (1) contg. spaced horizontal or vertical filter boxes (2) contg. the filter medium (3) and having cage-like gas and water-permeable walls (4); a flue gas inlet (5) located below the boxes (2) at the housing bottom; water spray nozzles (6) positioned above the horizontal boxes or at the side of the vertical boxes; a water collection box (7) with vertical gas passage pipes (8) located below the boxes (2) to collect water for pumping back to the nozzles (6); and a suction outlet (13) for clean flue gas at the top of the housing (1).
