The catalyst comprises a main catalyst of Ti compound, V compound, chloride and organic Al compound, and organic aluminium promotor. Thus, 2.1 ml of Ti(On-Bu)4, 0.75 ml of VOCl3, 1.0 ml of t-butyl chloride, 0.25 ml of ethylbutylmagnesium and 1.7 ml of Al2Et3Cl3 were stirred for 3 min to give a catalyst slurry. An atomic ratio of the catalyst component is Mg/(Ti+V)=47, Al/(Ti+V)=38, Cl/(Ti+V)=63.5 and Ti/V=2/3. 1.2 l n-Octane and 2.5 ml cyclohexane solution containing 30 wt. % of tetraisobutyldialuminium oxide were polymerized at 140 degree C, 160 psig for 20 min in the presence of the obtained catalyst to give the polyethylene polymer.
