PURPOSE:To produce a thick grain-oriented silicon steel sheet having superior magnetic properties by a simplified method by hot-rolling a silicon steel slab under specific conditions, coiling the resulting silicon steel plate, and further carrying out cold rolling, decarburizing annealing, and final finish annealing under respectively specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A slab of a silicon steel containing, by weight, 0.010-0.060% C, 2.5-4.5% Si, and ordinary inhibitor components, such as MnS, is hot-rolled and hot rolling is finished at 750-1150 deg.C, and the resulting hot rolled plate is held at >=700 deg.C for >= at least 1sec and coiled at <700 deg.C. In the above hot rolling, rolling is carried out under the conditions of >=50% cumulative reduction of area in the final three passes in finish rolling and >=20% reduction of area in the final pass. This hot rolled plate is subjected, without annealing, to cold rolling at >=80% reduction of area to 0.4-1.0mm thickness and then subjected to decarburizing annealing and to final finish annealing. By this method, the thick grain-oriented silicon steel sheet having superior magnetic properties can be produced by a single cold rolling. |
