<p>An optical recording disc adapted to bear optically readable information, comprises a glass substrate (1) and recording and reflective layers. The disc includes the following layers in sequence from the substrate: a) a recording layer (4), b) a layer (5) of a material with higher refractive index than the substrate material, eg titanium dioxide, c) a layer (6) of a material with lower refractive index than such higher refractive index material eg silicon dioxide, and d) a reflective layer (7) comprising titanium nitride. An outer protective layer (8) may be provided. The disc has good ageing properties and, at least in preferred embodiments, enables the appearance of a disc having a reflective layer of gold to be obtained. <IMAGE></p> |
