<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an adsorbent developing good adsorbability to aldehydes and also developing marked adsorbing capacity to ammonia by impregnating an activated carbon material having a specific pore size with sulfuric acid and baking the impregnated material in an inert gas. CONSTITUTION:This adsorbent for aldehydes is obtained by impregnating an activated carbon material wherein the volume of pores with a pore size of 10-100Angstrom is 0.25-1.1cc/g with sufuric acid and baking the impregnated material in an inert gas. When the volume of pores with a pore size of 10-100Angstrom is below 0.25cc/g, the impregnation effect of sulfuric acid is insufficient and, in the case of above 1.1cc/g, the specific gravity of the activated carbon material becomes low and the adsorbing amt. per a unit vol. thereof at the time of the processing into a filter becomes low. When the pore size is below 10Angstrom , only a planer surface is obtained even if sulfuric acid impregnation/baking treatment is performed and a malodorous component is not well adsorbed and removed. When the pore size is above 100Angstrom , the surface area of the activated carbon material is reduced and good adsorbing capacity is not obtained.</p> |
