Yellow azomethine dyes of particularly elevated stability are obtained from yellow couplers of the formula I by chromogenic development <IMAGE> (I) In formula I Q means a residue to complete a 4-pyrimidone ring; X means a residue which is eliminable on chromogenic development; R1 means alkyl with 1 to 6 C atoms; R2 means halogen, -CF3, alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio, acylamino, sulphonamido, sulphuramido, carbamoyl, alkoxycarbonyl, sulphonyl, sulphamoyl or a heterocyclic residue, wherein two adjacent residues R2 may complete a ring; n means an integer from 1 to 4.
