The invention concerns a container for storing and protecting sound carriers, in particular diskettes, compact discs or the like. The container has a flat holder part which has a recess for holding a sound carrier, and a closure part which is connected to the holder part so that the latter can be swung into and out of the closure part for removing and inserting the sound carrier, respectively. When the container is closed, the sound carrier is completely surrounded by the holder part and the closure part. In order to provide a container which matches the shape and size of the sound carrier, which, even in the opened state, requires no additional space and has fewer components than the conventional containers, the holder part is an approximately semi-circular disc-shaped holder casing (1) and the closure part is a likewise approximately semi-circular disc-shaped closure casing (2). The inner contour of the holder casing (1) has a radius which is equal to or slightly greater than that of the sound carrier (3) and a thickness which is equal to or slightly greater than that of the sound carrier (3). The outer contour of the holder casing (1) has a radius which is equal to or slightly smaller than that of the closure casing (2) and a thickness which is equal to or slightly smaller than that of the closure casing (2). The holder casing (1) and the closure casing (2) are connected approximately at the centre (18) of the circle which they form. |
