PURPOSE: To provide efficient technique for delivering ink to a tank of a pen held by a reciprocatively moving carriage of an ink jet printer from a feed container through a tube. CONSTITUTION: In a method for delivering ink to the tank 22 of the pen held on the reciprocally moving carriage 40 of a printer and connected to a separated ink feed part 58 by a tube 56 so as to transmit a liquid, the tank and the portion of the tube adjacent to the tank are accelerated to create the inertial flow of the ink passing through the tube and the inertial flow of the ink is turned to the tank and the tube is selectively adjusted by a valve 60 to regulate the amt. of the inertial flow of the ink entering the tank.
