A process is disclosed for monitoring and/or controlling the course of an object through a predetermined series of transport and/or processing operations at various stations. An electronic camera (8) at an entry station takes a digital picture of each object (4a) before it enters the course of operations. The digital picture has characteristic traits for identifying the object (4a). These characteristic traits are determined and summed up in a characteristic code. During the course of operations, cameras (8) located at control stations take digital pictures of the object (4a) for recognising and identifying the object (4). These images are analysed by an image processing programme and compared with the stored characteristic code for recognising and identifying the object (4a) before the object (4a) is signalled to the central computer. |
