PURPOSE:To obtain an outboard engine provided with a highpower/large- displacement engine having a compact structure. CONSTITUTION:In the structure of an outboard engine provided with a vertical crank shaft, an engine main body 1 is provided with a cylinder block 14 composed of a pair of banks 2a extended into a V shape and so arranged as to be faced to each other on the opposite side to a clamp device centered around a crank shaft, a cylinder head 15 fixed on a cylinder block, a head cover 16 connected to the release end of the cylinder head, and an intake/exhaust valve driving cam shaft 17 pivotally attached between the cylinder head and the head cover. Moreover, it is provided with a belt transmission mechanism provided above the cylinder head so as to drive the cam shaft, an intake passage 37 communicated with an intake port 25 between the facing surface of a pair of banks, and approximately horizontally extended in the direction separate from the crank shaft under at least the belt transmission mechanism, a throttle valve device 4 provided with intake passages 42,43 communicated with the intake passage, and an exhaust passage 35 communicated with an exhaust port 26 outside a pair of banks. |
