The process for separating the protein-like materials from nucleic acids comprises contacting a solution, which contains the protein-like materials and nucleic acids, with an extraction material in solid phase, which extraction material is able to bind proteins in order to form bound and unbound fractions, after which the unbound fraction, which contains the nucleic acids, is isolated.
