A stray arc protective device consisting of an energy store, a coil, at least one stray arc detector controlling a switching component fitted between the coil and the energy store and a triggering cartridge with a vacuum which generates a metallic short circuit under the effect of the induction current generated by the coil, is to be improved in such a way that the components and especially the energy store can be made more compact and the triggering cartridge is easy to produce. This is achieved in that the triggering cartridge (1) consists of a first cup-like part (1a) with a tubular section (4) and a second part (1b), an insulating tube (21) or ring is fitted between the open end of the tubular section (4) or the first part (1a) of the cartridge and its second part (1b), both parts (1a, 1b) being mechanical joined but insulated from each other, and the coil is fitted directly on the tubular section (4) of the first part (1a) of the cartridge for triggering.
