Transfer unit in a forming machine

The transfer press (or a similar forming machine for sheet-metal components) incorporates a transfer unit (3) movable in unison with the press cycle, and is equipped with means (16) for holding and transporting sheet-metal components through the press. The press additionally incorporates a raising/lowering drive (22, 23) which by means of holding devices acts on the transfer unit. The drive (22, 23) takes the form of servomotors or similar devices with hollow rotors and high-resolution position indicators. The hollow rotor of each servomotor is provided with a spindle nut (28) which interacts with a spindle (24, 25) attached without freedom of rotation to the transfer unit (3).
