Process for the mfr. of columnar concrete blocks with profiled surfaces

The process involves the production of profiled surface finished faces on columnar shaped blocks of concrete (21) by the splitting off of additional cast on wings (22, 23) or top pieces (30) at formed grooved joint (24, 25, 28, 29). The splitting is carried out before the concrete has achieved is full 28 day strength. A force is applied in a frame to a loading plate whose pointed edge is inserted into one or more grooves in the cast concrete shape. The weak concrete splits at the groove to leave a block of the correct size with a profiled surface and pleasing bevelled edges.
