The tool fires a bolt (7) into a wall (4), using a piston (6) driven by an explosive material (9). The explosive material is arranged in the form of removable pills along a spooled magazine strip (8), which is fed into a loading chamber (5). A device within the loading chamber removes pills from the magazine strip. When the user squeezes a trigger (16) on the hand grip (2), the explosive pills are ignited by a firing pin (22). The number of pills fed into the loading chamber is adjustable. Alternatively, the magazine strip itself consists of explosive material. An adjustable length is fed into the loading chamber and activated electrically by an ignition electrode connected to a voltage source in the hand grip.
