Pressure plate for continuous band press

A continuous band press, e.g. for chipboard manufacture, has pressure applied to the material (5) by a continuous band (1) through a pressure plate (3) acting on rollers (4). The surface (8) of the pressure plate (3) in contact with the rollers (4) has crossing grooves (10, 11) machined into it so that they form a grid of lubricating pockets (9). The lands between the pockets are partially cold formed and hardened by rolling.
