A miniature, low-cost, ionising electrostatic wire/cylinder filter for purifying, discharging, distributing and ionising an air flow completely free of impurities (95-99.99 % filtering) without using high voltages and with no toxic compounds being present (ozone, nitrogen oxides). Said filter consists of a power supply (1) connected to a set of tubular cells (2) each having an electron emitting wire extending coaxially therethrough. Partially metallised insulating shields (4 and 5) let air through and position the wires. A conductor (10) is attached to the shields (4 and 5) to connect the wires to the power supply (1). The wire ends on the purified air discharge side have pointed tips that are coaxial with the cell and positioned so that the purified air is ionised. This device is particularly suitable for pollution control in confined atmospheres. |
