PREPARATION OF UNSATURATED KETONE

New unsaturated ketone is prepd. by condensation-reacting the halogen cpd. of formula (I) (pref. prenyl chloride or prenyl bromide) and the ketone of formula (II) in the presence of alkali type condensating agent and a catalyst, where the catalyst is obtained and fed by reacting triethylamine sodium iodide in the same reactor. In the formulas, X is halogen; R and R' are respectively H or C1-5 alkyl, or samely -(CR1R2)n- alkylene where R1 and R2 are respectively H or C1-5 alkyl, n is 1-3. Pref. the ketone (II) is acetone. The obtd. methyl heptenon is useful as an intermediator for perfumery, vitamine A, squalene, vitamine E or vitamine K.
