The saturation layer (106) is moved relative to the patient layer (104) of interest. The first two steps are carried out, during each individual MR sequence. A cyclic physiological function of the patient is monitored, and the saturation layer (106) is displaced relative to the layer (104) of interest as a function of this cyclic physiological function. The cyclic physiological function is the heart cycle of the patient. The second step includes moving the layer (106) in the direction of the non-reflux blood flow, after the max. non-reflux blood flow rate has begun. The movement of the saturation layer is ended before the reflux begins. The saturation layer is returned to its original position adjacent to the layer (104) after the rearward blood flow has ended.
