A data card is communicated with, without direct contact. The card has an embedded transmitter and receiver. The card is communicated with by two way transmission by electromagnetic waves from an external station. The card is powered either by an embedded battery or by energy transmitted to the card over the inductive path. Data is read from the card or entered onto the card.
