Fault diagnosis of electrical system e.g. for railway transport system

A fault diagnostic system is used for application with the functional units of such a rail transportation vehicle. The motor powered vehicle has a number of units and fault monitoring is employed for both motors and electrical power converters. Additional functions include operation of access doors. The possible errors are classified in a hierarchical system and are identified by error codes. The data can be structured in a matrix form.
