An apparatus (10) and associated method of joining a night vision device (12) to a camera device (14) to record images during night time or low light conditions. The present invention includes a substantially rigid mounting plate (30) that connects to the bottom surfaces of both the night vision device (12) and the camera device (14), whereby the objective lens assembly (15) of the camera device (14) is held in optical alignment with the ocular lens assembly of the night vision device (12). The mounting plate (30) is configured to compensate for size differentials between the night vision device (12) and the camera device (14). Also, an adaptor (20) is used to physically join the ocular lens assembly of the night vision device (12) to the objective lens assembly (15) of the camera device (14). The adaptor (20) includes a stabilizing element (28) that attaches to the mounting plate (30), thereby providing additional support to both the camera device (14) and the night vision device (12).
