The ends (1 and 2) of a transmitting optical fibre and a receiving optical fibre are interconnected via a flexible transparent connecting member (3) with a refractive index as close as possible to that of the optical fibres being used. The connecting member (3) has an interface (6) with a medium having a completely different refractive index, said interface being located adjacent the light beam passing through said member. When the shape of the interface (6) is changed, the light beam is totally reflected by it and thus deflected.
