Machined rolling bearing components

The bearing components consist of balls or rollers (5), rings, (3,4) cages, etc. The running surfaces of the races have numerous small recesses. These recesses have non-level surfaces in the form of grooves or fissures. The ratio of the surface of the recesses to the total surface is less than 10%. The recesses are distributed arbitrarily. They are machined in the running tracks (6, 7) before hardening. They may be produced by a heat treatment process before or after the final machining of the running track. It is also possible to produce them by a micro-fissure chromium plating process.
