Modular system for solar-generated DC power supply

A system providing an easily extendable photovoltaic i.e. solar generated power supply for independent non-mains equipment is designed for low-voltage DC loads up to 60 volts. The essential components comprise one or more solarcell modules (1) as an energy source backed-up by a single battery (7) or series connected array and a matching charging regulator (4) after removal of the shorting caps (21,22). A low power output (10) is provided for e.g. lighting loads (11) together with a circuit (12) capable of operating a cooker (13) or where required an inverter for AC supply. Each output is controlled by a separate switch unit (8,9) and the plug-in components are colour-coded to assist inexperienced users.
