A high-pressure discharge lamp with a metal-halogenide filling is optimised for optical applications in that the discharge vessel (2), as a single bulb, has two mutually opposite lamp stems (5), which are designed as pinch seals for foils (8), the length of the lamp stems (5) corresponding approximately to the length of the discharge vessel (2).
