Method and appts. for separating a plastic material with embedded metal particles into its metal and plastic constituents

Metal particles (in the form of bullets, for example) with high kinetic energy enter into a captor material from which they are to be recovered. The method and appts. include the following steps and features; (a) the captor material which is used in the form handleable blocks had a m.pt. which is lower than that of the metal particles; (b) blocks of captor material with embedded metal particles are heated in a closed furnace (36) which accommodates with a gap a screen inert (25) to a temp. higher than the m.pt. of the captor material but lower than the m.pt. of the metal particles; (c) the molten captor material and solid metal particle are mechanically sepd. and are separately extracted from the boiler.
