A calcium salt prepn. process involves (a) reacting calcium oxide, contg. aluminium as impurity, with hydrochloric acid in aq. reaction medium to obtain an aq. calcium chloride soln. and an aluminium-contg. insoluble residue; (b) recovering the calcium chloride; and (c) converting the calcium chloride into an aluminium-depleted calcium salt.
