[Also in Divisions F1, F2, and H2] In a motor driven centrifugal pump, the shaft has an extension 93, Fig. 4, with a square end which is visible through an opening in the pump casing for the purpose of ascertaining whether the shaft is rotating. The opening is closed by a removable cover 92 which is preferably completely or partly transparent. In another embodiment, a valve 64, Fig. 3, can be released from its seating by slackening a nut 66, thereby venting air from the pump. On further slackening of the nut, an oblique end face 67 on the valve spindle comes into contact with an oblique end free 57 formed on a conical bear ing pivot 56 carried by the pump shaft 55, whereby rotation of the shaft is indicated by reciprocating motion of the valve.
