MANUFACTURE OF NEGATIVE ELECTRODE MATERIAL FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY AND LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE:To provide the negative electrode material of a lithium secondary battery having large discharging capacity. CONSTITUTION:Carbon material is obtained by pre-treating carbonizable material at a pressure of 10kgf/cm or more (e.g. about 20-300kgf/cm<2>) and a heat treatment temperature of 600 deg.C or less (e.g. about 200-500 deg.C) in an inert atmosphere and then carbonization-treating at a temperature of about 500-3300 deg.C. Carbonization is performed at about 1500-3300 deg.C when the carbonizable material is easy in graphitization., and at about 500-1500 deg.C when difficult in graphitization. Obtained carbon material is suited to the negative electrode material of a lithium secondary battery.
