OPTICAL-FIBER CAPSULATION METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide the method for securely capsulating an array of crossover optical fibers without damaging the optical fibers. CONSTITUTION: The capsulating method for optical fibers has a step (A) wherein optical fibers are joined to a 1st surface 18 of a plane member 17, a step (B) wherein the plane member 17 is arranged in an airtight chamber 10, and a step (C) wherein a thermoplastic sheet 13 is arranged so that the thermoplastic sheet 13 adjoins to the 1st surface 18 of the plane member 17 and the 1st surface of the thermoplastic sheet 13 faces the 1st surface 18 of the plane member 17. Further, the method has a step (D) wherein the opposite 2nd surface of the plane member 17 is held low in pressure than the opposite 2nd surface of the thermoplastic sheet, 13 (The thermoplastic sheet 13 is pressed against the plane member 17.) and a step (E) wherein the thermoplastic sheet 13 is adhered to the 1st surface 18 of the plane member 17.
