PURPOSE:To promote formation of precipitate and to enable continuous treatment so as to permit sure removal of metal in liquid by using a polymer having S atoms coordinatable to the metal and capturing the metal in the waste photographic processing liquid, thereby forming the precipitate. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. tank 15 of the S-contg. polymer is installed in a desilvering device 1. This aq. soln. of the S-contg. polymer is supplied to a treating space 11A of a settling chamber 11. The waste washing liquid WD supplied from a stock tank 14 is successively treated in the treating spaces 11A, 11B of the chamber 11 and is made to overflow from the space 11B so as to flow into the treating space 12A of a settling chamber 12. The waste liquid is treated in the treating spaces 12A, 12B, flows into the treating space 13A of the settling chamber 13 and are successively treated in the treating spaces 13A, 13B. This liquid plays the role like a seed crystal and the formation of the S-contg. polymer precipitating coordinated with Ag is promoted.
