PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning with a photoelectric transmitting path, to improve coupling work efficiency and to reduce a coupling loss by providing a transmissivity variable mirror for changing transmissivity each time the light emitting operation and light receiving operation of a planar light emitting laser are switched. CONSTITUTION:Concerning the optical transmitter/receiver for transmitting and receiving optical signals while switching the light emitting operation and the light receiving operation corresponding to time inside the transmitter of a bidirectional optical transmission system for performing bidirectional communication through an optical transmission line, a planar light emitting laser 10 forms a resonator with a high reflecting film 13 and a transmissivity variable mirror 11 sandwiching an active layer 12, and light is inputted and outputted perpendicularly to the active layer 12. On the other hand, the transmissivity variable mirror 11 changes the transmissivity each time the light emitting operation and light receiving operation of the planar light emitting laser 10 are switched. Thus, large light emitting and light receiving areas can be secured, positioning is facilitated in the case of coupling to an optical fiber 14 to be the optical transmission line, and coupling work efficiency can be improved. |
