<p>PURPOSE:To reduce an amount of exhausted unburnt HC by controlling the opening closing timing of an exhaust valve according to the opening closing state of an SCV(Swirl Control Valve). CONSTITUTION:An internal combustion engine is provided with an SCV 10 to partially close an engine intake air port 2 at a low speed and in a partial load operation area; and a variable valve system mechanism 16 to control the opening closing timing of an exhaust valve 13. The variable valve system mechanism 16 sets one of a measure wherein the opening starting timing of the exhaust valve 13 is delayed when the SCV 10 is closed compared with a time when the valve is opened and a measure wherein the closing completion timing of the exhaust valve 13 is advanced at a time described above.</p> |
