<p>PURPOSE:To charge both batteries with a set of charger by combining the ON/OFF operation of three switching circuits such that a high capacity battery is connected with a rectifier circuit and a charger in order to be charged with midnight power and then a power battery for the electric vehicle is subjected to boost charging with the high capacity battery. CONSTITUTION:An AC power supply 12 is rectified through a rectifier circuit 5 and a switch 6 is turned ON. Consequently, a switch 7 is turned ON through a charger comprising a converter 4 and a timer 10 and a high capacity battery 1 is charged. The timer 10 sets a time interval when power is available at midnight charging. When the time interval of midnight power charging expires, a control circuit 9 turns switches 6, 7 OFF and turns a switch 8 ON. When a power battery 3 of an electric automobile 2 is connected and a switch 11 is turned ON, the controller 9 controls the converter for the charger 4 depending on the information concerning to the type, voltage, temperature and charging characteristics of the battery 3 and performs boost charging. This constitution allows common use of a set of charger for both batteries thus realizing cost reduction.</p> |
