<p>PURPOSE:To simply manufacture a toner in a composite grain state by concurrently polymerizing grains formed by mechanical shearing and grains having a grain size smaller than that of these grains. CONSTITUTION:A polymerizable monomer containing an additive such as a colorant is suspension-polymerized in the existence of a suspension stabilizer containing at least a surface active agent in an aqueous medium to manufacture the toner. A mixture of a water-soluble monomer and a water-insoluble monomer is used as the monomer, and grains I formed by mechanical shearing and grains II having a grain size smaller than that of the grains I are concurrently polymerzied. The grains I having the toner grain size and the fine grains II having a smaller grain size than the grains I can be concurrently formed in one polymerization reaction. the grains I and grains II can be made different in composition, and the toner having a composite structure can be simply obtained when the fine grains II are fixed on the surfaces of the grains I.</p> |
