PURPOSE:To easily change any arbitrary line under a condition of simultaneously displaying plural lines of subtitles. CONSTITUTION:A code buffer 22 is divided into banks A, B and C. The number of horizontal scanning lines to be processed (displayed) is counted by a line counter 21A, when that value reaches a prescribed value, a switch 203 is changed over to the bank A, and the data of subtitles 1 written there are read out, supplied to a decoder 206 and decoded. When the value of the line counter 21A reaches the other prescribed value, the switch 203 is changed over to the bank B, and the data of subtitles 2 written there are read out, supplied to the decoder 206 and decoded. When the subtitles 1 and 2 written in the banks A and B are decoded, a switch 202 is changed over to the bank C, and the data of subtitles 3 continued to the subtitles 2 in the bank B are written. |
