<p>PURPOSE:To effect the melting of the ice at a speed advantageous in following up the load by a method wherein the cold heat of the ice in an ice storage tank is transmitted to a heat exchanger by a heat pump and the water resulting from the melting of the ice by heat exchange is returned to the ice-making device by a circulating pump. CONSTITUTION:A pile of loop type heat pipes 4 arranged one loop over another are extended inside a mass of ice 10 from its upper part to its lower part so that cold heat can be withdrawn from the mass of ice 10 as a whole. Even when the ass of ice 10 has decreased in volume through increase of the load, cold heat is withdrawn from the latent heat of melting of the ice 10 at the upper part of the pile of loop type heat pipes 4 and from the sensible heat of water 11 at a temperature about 0 deg.C at the lower part. Therefore the heat exchange is effected until the mass of ice 10 is reduced to a state that the difference in temperature between the temperature of the water inside the heat storage tank 3 and that of cold water 12 does not exist. This constitution enables effecting the melting of the ice at a speed advantageous in following up the load.</p> |
