PURPOSE:To obtain in an industrially advantageous way a quinoline compound useful for medicines or agrochemicals, by cyclization of an oxime of specific structure in the presence of a tetraalkylammonium perrhenate and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. CONSTITUTION:This quinoline compound of formula III can be obtained by cyclization of (A) an oxime of formula I (R1 is a 1-10C alkyl; X1 and X2 are such that they are mutually bound into methyl-enedioxy, or the former is a 1-10C alkoxyl or hydroxyl, the latter being H), e.g. 1-methyl-3-(3,4- methylenedioxyphenyl)-ketoxime, in the presence of (B) each pref. 0.01-2.0 (esp. 0.05-1.5)mol, per mol of the component A, of a tetraalkylammonium perrhenate of formula II (R2 is a 1-10C alkyl) (e.g. tetrabutylammonium perrhenate) and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. |
