<p>Spool feed in winding machines comprising the fact that beneath the tailstocks there is a passageway with a length for the introduction of spools at a low level and a length for their removal at a high level, with along the sides of the said passageway two parallel chains which are closed on themselves in a loop, wound around corresponding pairs of drive sprockets and return sprockets in which the operating limb lies above the length of removal passageway and the return limb lies beneath the length of insertion passageway and that between the said chains there is supported at least one transverse roller which as the chains advance is capable of causing the spool to roll along the passageway by pressing it from behind and causing it to exit along the removal length of passageway in a condition in which it is tight and raised between the tailstocks. It trips a lock and comprises an actuator mounted on the upper moving member of the lock and is equipped with an extendable member which, when the handle of the lock is in the tripped position is engaged with the fixed frame.
