In a screw conveyor for the transport of solids, a conveyor screw (1, 11) with a helical thread is driven into rotation in a closed pipe (3) or semi-circular trough (6). The conveyor screw (1,11) has hard-wearing elements (10) on its effective surface, which extend beyond the radial outside contour (8) of the thread. The conveyor screw (1, 11) can be attached at the radial inside contour (7) of the thread to a supporting axle (2), or it may be with no core or supporting axle, in which case it is supported by the hard-wearing elements (10). The hard-wearing elements (10) are placed at regular intervals in a circumferential direction round the conveyor screw; they are continuous; and their greatest extent is in the axial direction of the conveyor screw (1, 11), enabling them to counteract the occurrence of caking between the pipe/trough (3, 6) and the conveyor screw (1, 11), to reduce the frictional resistance, to function as a wearing part, and to increase the mixing effect of the conveyor screw (1, 11), and keep the material homogeneous. |
