A gasket for sealing a clearance/gap between two or several pieces, for example machine parts, the gasket having two states of operation, state with the clearance and sealing state, and being capable of changing from one state to the other under external control by changing its geometry by means of a shape-memory metal piece, and a method for changing from one state of operation to the other. In the gasket according to the invention, use is made of the ability of the shape-memory metal to change its shape at certain transformation temperatures and the possibility to adapt the transformation temperatures according to the operating conditions. |
