A preparation of a delipidated purified polysaccharide compound D25 with a molecular weight of around 34 KD, extracted from the membrane proteoglycans of Klebsiella pneumoniae, wherein said polysaccharide compound is delipidated and purified so that an aqueous solution containing the compound no longer comprises any C16 fatty acids and peptides whether free or combined with said compound. The use of said preparation in imaging, given the targeting properties of said compound, is also disclosed.
