The rotary electric machine such as the alternator (10) includes a rotor (12) and a stator (18). The stator comprises an annular cylindrical skirt and two radial end plates (24) traversed by the rotor shaft (16). This defines the enclosure (13) within which the rotor is mounted. A second box (38) partially surrounds the stator (18,20) in order to define a peripheral annular cooling chamber (50). This chamber is filled with coolant fluid and includes an internal helix fan (62) which is rotated by the rotor (12). This causes a forced axial circulation of cooling air within the enclosure. |
