Packaging with shape stability and hermetic sealing has a packaging material (2a) with shape stability carrying a sealable plastic layer (1a) to form a contact surface (4a) with a further plastic layer (1b), also of a sealable material on a packing material (2b) with shape stability. The plastic layer (1b) extends beyond the edge (3a) of its carrier material (2a). Also claimed is a prodn. process for a folded carton where the welding is effected after or during the folding action, using intermittent infra-red laser beams directed at the welding zone combined with pressure applied directly at the weld.
